Fig. 10-A. This block diagram shows how glacial ice, as it flows over the surface of the ground, picks up debris from the underlying rock and sediment. These materials become part of the moving mass of the glacier. The bottom part of a glacier may consist of more entrained debris than ice. When the glacier eventually melts, all of the debris it contained is deposited on the ground.
