Fig. 11-F. This exposure of glacial deposits is along Lake Sakakawea near Riverdale. Two tills are being eroded and exhumed by wave action at the lake shore. The upper till (farthest back and more brown in color) is early Wisconsinan in age. The lower till, which is pre-Wisconsinan in age, is much older and harder than the upper one. For this reason, the upper till is being removed much faster than the lower ones. This leaves the older till surface stripped of its former covering of younger till.
